The Pulin Family, Ada, Yasha, and Kai moved to Las Vegas in 2010 after the Tex Drive-In (Honoka’a) changed ownership. Ada searched for opportunities to make and sell her Malasadas in Las Vegas. After acquiring a Cottage License, she began a business from her home, selling the Hawaiian treat at farmer’s markets. The business quickly outgrew her home kitchen and the warm reception Vegas offered this budding business only stopped as Coronavirus made its way onto the scene. Due to this, it was decided that business would shut down until safe and recovered. Ada's Malasadas are now available for Parties and Events.
The recipe for sweet bread came to Hawaii with the sugar workers from the Azore’s (Portugal) in the early 1900s. Pieces of dough left from making sweet bread, fried, and rolled through sugar, were called Malasadas, a treat for young and old. In Hawaii Malasadas became a commercial product 50 years later. In 1969 the Texeira's opened the Tex Drive on the Island of Hawaii. At the suggestion of its Portuguese cooks Malasadas were added to the menu, and over time became famous.
Our great reputation comes from Hawaiian and Las Vegas customers' recommending the Malasadas on the "coconut wireless" and Social Media sites.

What sets Ada’s Malasadas apart?
Our recipe came from families that settled in Hamakua on the Island of Hawaii the early 1900's, and hasn't been manipulated to cut costs or increase it's shelf life.
Our Malasadas consist of ingredients from our original recipe, and never substituted for cheaper products that might give our treats a longer shelf life at the cost of your health.
Once the dough is made, frying is done on site with high-oleic sunflower shortening: non GMO, no Additives and zero trans fats, cholesterol, sodium, or carbohydrates, dietary fiber and protein; The upkeep of our fryer after each event guarantees a consistent, delicious and fresh product!

From our businesses in Hawaii we know how much people love Fresh Malasadas, and that Malasadas held in boxes or on trays, lose some of that freshness. We are convinced that we fill a niche by preparing the dough in our kitchen, freeze it, and fry them at the party or event. At requests we roll them through sugar or cinnamon sugar and custom fill them with either Bavarian cream , Chocolate or our homemade Haupia.
